Policies

Lessons: In-studio lessons take place once a week for a thirty minute time slot. Parents and siblings (supervised by parents) are welcome to observe lessons.

Practicing: I expect and require each student to practice the required time that I ask. For most students that will be 5 times a week at half an hour per practice session. Please note that a lesson does not count as a practice.  However for students without a harp in their home, exceptions will be allowed. For these students, I require material (including music, theory, and all else covered in weekly lessons) to be reviewed for practical knowledge. In addition, these students have the option to schedule weekly in-studio practice sessions with the Studio Harp for an additional fee (see our Tuition and Fees page). In either case, students will have enough instruction to work on their music each week and everything will be in their notebook for them to know what and how to practice.

Probation: If a student does not practice and come prepared after 2 lessons the student will be placed on probation. This means that a student has 2 more lesson to show that he or she is willing to take this seriously; otherwise the student will be dropped from the studio, and NO refund will be given.

Tuition is Due each month at the first lesson. If payment comes after the first lesson of the month a $5 fee will be added per student. In certain extenuating circumstances I am willing to make exceptions, but 24 hour notice is required.

Make-up lessons will take place if I am given at least 48 hours notice of a schedule conflict, with the exception of an emergency such as illness. Please note that soccer practices or school functions are not emergencies. Make ups will take place either during the week of a holiday or master class.

Recitals (Optional): There are two recitals each year, usually in December and the Spring (March or April). The December recital is usually a fun Christmas recital. The Spring recital is more professional and serious in scope.
